| General | Ilyichivsk Commercial Sea Port (49.19 N,
30.40 E) at 15 miles length from Odessa was founded in
1958. It consists of 7 cargo handling complexes. The First and Third complexes are used
for loading steel products and pig iron. The Second complex is used for handling
containers. The Fourth complex includes facilities for loading/discharging vegetable and
tropical oils and liquid chemicals. This complex is the site of a large grain silos
reloader. The Sixth complex is used for fertilizers, steel products and pig iron.
The Seventh complex includes facilities for handling ferry and ro-ro vessels. The berths
of the Western side of the harbor are used by fishing trawlers. The port is well equipped
with shore cranes with lifting capacity of up to 45 tons. Floating cranes from 100 to 350
tons are also available in the port, as well as ferry, ro-ro and container terminals,
warehouses, cold stores, concrete floor sheds. TOP |
| Pilotage | Navigation is year round in the port. In very severe winters, ice navigations is supported by icebreaker. Highly qualified Captain- Dispatchers will control the traffic in such a was as to provide for safe navigation of the vessels and minimum stay on roads. Pilotage and mooring of ships are carried out by expirienced and highly qualified pilots. Pilotage can be effected under winds up to Force 6 and waves up to 4 meters high. Pilots is taken on board when vessel is approaching lighthouse. Ships sailing from the port may leave Pilot in the area of the lighthouse. For the better safety of navigation in poor visisbility conditions, offers of all ships with a VHF radio may rely on the services of a radar station. It operates round-the-clock and keeps Master adviced of his ship's positions. |
| Anchorage Berthing |
Ships arriving at the port of Ilyichevsk without prior advice may be anchored on roads, the same may happen if no berth is available. |
| Restrictions | The port may be called at by vessels with draught unexceeding 13.5 m. The permitted draft for vessels staying in Basin No.1 is up to 10.5 m and for vessels in Basin No.2 is 9.5 m, maximum allowed length alongside the berths is 280 m. |
| Medical | Medical aid is rendered by medical personnel of the port Polyclinic which operated day time. Special medical aid is obtainable at the Cyty Hospital operated round-the-clock. |
| Specialized cargo handling facilities | The Fourth complex includes facilities for
