General Located on the north-west coast of the Black Sea in non-freezing Adzhalyksky Liman 30 km to the east from Port Odessa. Port Coordinates : Lat. 46.39 N, Long. 30.55 E

The port of Yuzhnyy has six berths:
No. 1,2 is designed for loading urea in bulk and bags, No. 3,4 - loading liquid ammonia, methanol, superphosphorous acid, No. 5,6 - loading ore, steel metal products.
The permitted draft alongside the berths are: No1 - 11.5 m, No.2 - 12.0 m, No.3 - 12.5 m, No.5,6 - 13.2m. The maximum allowed length is 280 m.
Dredged channel 2-4 km long, 118m wide. Leading light beacons mark the centre line and light buoys mark the channel. A new laser beacon has been installed to guide vessels through the fairway. Minimum depth is 13.5m.
The maximum speed allowed in the entrance channel is 6 knts, and in the port confines 4 knts.

WORKING HOURS OF TERMINALS - ROUND THE CLOCK

Terminals Loading-discharging district No.1 ( on the western shore) is intended for transshipment of chemical and bulk cargoes. It consists of three specialized terminals:
  • The first terminal specializes in handling bulk urea . The terminal comprises two berths (Nos. 1,2) with total length of about 500 meters. The berths are equipped with three specialized ship-loading machines. The throughput capacity of the terminal is 4 mln tons per year. The rate of port speed is 12 thousand tons of cargoes per day on board of each vessel.
  • The second terminal is dedicated for handling liquid chemical cargoes. Odessa By-Port plant is an operator of this terminal. It consists of two berths (Nos.3,4) with total length of 213 m. The berths represent two pile piers. They are equipped with up-to-date technological equipment: standers, pipelines. At berth No.3 loading of ammonia is performed . At berth No. 4 - loading of methanol and urea ammonium nitrate solution and discharging of super phosphate acid from sea going vessels are carried out . The berths are equipped with a modern automatic environment control system. The throughput capacity of the terminal is 4 mln tons per year. The rate of port speed is approx. 1000 tons of liquid chemical cargoes per hour on board of each vessel.
  • The third terminal - for handling sea and river sand. Here about 1 mln tons of sand is handled annually by a hydraulic method.

Loading-discharging district No.2 (on the eastern shore) is handling bulk cargo and metal products. It consists of two specialized terminals.

  • Bulk & General Cargo Terminal consists of three berths (Nos.5,6,7) with total length of 915 m. and average depths of up to 14 m. The terminal is equipped with efficient transshipping equipment. The unloading device with two car tipping devices (for discharging of semi-cars with carrying capacity of up to 125 tons) , the underground gallery and trestle, transshipping and power station, conveyor stations, stakes, portal cranes - this is a technological equipment of this terminal. Vessels with carrying capacity of up to 72 thousand tons are handled at the berths of the terminal. The throughput capacity of the terminal is 6,5 mln tons per year. The rate of port speed is approx. 4000 tons of general cargoes per day on the vessel and 7500 tons of bulk cargoes per day on the vessel.
  • Fertilizer Terminal specializes in transloading of chemical fertilizers. Joint Venture "TransInvestService" is an operator of this terminal. It is a unique complex on its technology and transshipping machinery. The terminal consists of two berths (Nos. 16,17). There are fore specialized ship-unloading machines (two devices at each terminal) , covered warehouses at berths Nos. 16 &17. Its throughput capacity is 2,5 mln tons per year.
  • There are three auxiliary berths at the port, which are available for port fleet vessels, temporary bunker base, for scientific-research vessels of the Ukraine National Academy of Sciences.

Medical Policlinic is located at the territory of the Port of Yuzhny , working hours are from 8.00 a.m. till 5.00 p.m. Here you can get qualified medical service as well as be treated by highly skilled medical staff specializing in different subjects of medicine: surgeon, dentist, physician, neuropathologist, oculist, throat specialist, endocrinologist, cardiologist , gastroenterologist and others.

Reanimation brigade is on duty round the clock in the policlinic of the port. Besides there are two surgeries on the territory of loading-discharging districts Nos. 1 & 2 (at the 5th berth). Additional medical services may be provided in the policlinics of city Odessa and town Yuzhny.

Cargoes handled Bulk cargoes: coal, iron ore pellets, clinker, iron ore and manganese ore, pig iron, metallurgical coke, blast-furnace coke; bauxite, iron ore briquettes, ferrous alloy etc.

Chemical cargoes and fertilizers : bulk urea, ammonia, methanol, urea-ammonium nitrate solution, complex fertilizer NPK, ammonium nitrate, Di ammonium phosphate, rutile, magnesia, ammonium sulphate, phosphates, chloride de potassium, etc.

General cargoes: end and semi-manufactured metal products: square billets, cold and hot rolled steel sheets, wire rods, reinforcing steel, slabs, steel sheets in different kinds of package , etc.

4. Automated fork lifts (54 loading devices, lifting capacity of up to 25 tons):

17. Four specialized ship-unloading machines ( by 2 units at berth 16 & 17).

Mobile port crane "Liebcherr" of 40 tons.
Gantry cranes "Kondor" - 2 units, 40 tons.

Fresh water Fresh water can be supplied from the barge.
Fuel Bunkers can be supplied from the port's tankers available by prior arrangement through vessel's Agent.
Repairs Hull and machine repairs can be effected.

Tugs Tugs shall be ordered by the Master as directed the pilot.
